New international Gold Medal for Vicente Gandia Bobal Negro by Pepe Hidalgo, this time in Ireland

The valencian winery is once again awarded, adding a new accolade since the launch of this wine a year ago.

VICENTE GANDIA BOBAL NEGRO BY PEPE HIDALGO has been awarded a Gold Medal in the BEST OF SPAIN WINE CHALLENGE IRELAND 2020 competition. The main objective of this challenge is to enhance the visibility of Spanish wines by facilitating their entry into international markets, as well speed up the entry into new market channels for the Spanish wineries. This competition has been organized for the second consecutive year by the Union of Tasters with a panel of specialists made up of a group of Irish opinion leaders in the wine industry.

Vicente Gandia Bobal Negro is a red wine made by the winery’s Technical Director: Pepe Hidalgo, who comes from a long line of winemakers and has extensive experience in maximizing the quality of Bobal, the native variety from the Utiel-Requena area.

This red wine has been made using a selection of Bobal grapes from vineyards within the upper Utiel-Requena region. It has been harvested during the middle of October with yields of under 1 k per vine. Pre-fermentation maceration is carried out at 3º C for a period of four days while it is fermented at 26º C before it remains as pulp for a further ten days. 50% of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation coated in lightly roasted 12 months in French oak.

This wine has an intense red colour and purple rim. Aromas of rich red fruits and English caramel with slight smoky notes. On the palate it well rounded and full, finishing with light notes of oak from its barrel ageing.

This new medal joins the list of awards that this wonderful red wine has achieved in a short time. Since its inception, it has never ceased to surprise consumers and all the expert tasters in the sector.
