Vicente Gandía Winery was founded in 1885 by Vicente Gandía Plà. Since then, the property has kept the same name. It has also kept the essence of our passion for wine, handed down over the generations with a sole objective: to improve, year on year, the winery’s commitment to the world of wine. This was the vision of Vicente Gandía, first generation and founder of the company.

  • 1885 - Vicente Gandía founds the winery in El Grao, Valencia.
  • 1930 - The winery in Liria is opened.
  • 1971 - ‘Castillo de Liria’, the first bottled wine of the Community of Valencia, is born.
  • 1984 - Gandía becomes leading exporter of Spanish wine to the United Kingdom.
  • 1985 - Construction of the winery in Chiva.
  • 1992 - Hoya de Cadenas Estate is purchased.
  • 1995 - ‘Hoya de Cadenas Reserve’ is born.
  • 1996 - Jose Mª Gandía is named member of the Noble Order of Wine Knights in the United Kingdom.
  • 1999 - First vintage of ‘Ceremonia’.
  • 2000 - ‘Fusta nova’ is born.
  • 2001 - Construction of the winery in the vineyards on the Hoya de Cadenas Estate. 15,000 American and French oak casks.
  • 2002 - First vintage of ‘Hoya de Cadenas Private Reserve’.
  • 2003 - First vintage of ‘Generación 1’.
  • 2004 - Gandía ranked among top 15 Spanish wineries.
  • 2005 - 120th Anniversary. Launch of ‘El Miracle’.
  • 2006 – First vintage of ‘Hoya de Cadenas Bobal Viñas Viejas’.
  • 2007 – Chamber of Commerce Award for Business Globalisation and Award for Best Winery in the Community of Valencia from Valencia Polytechnic University.
  • 2008 – First production of Cava.
