Hoya de Cadenas Reserva Privada, one of our most award-winning wines, is made using grapes from the most prized growing areas on the Hoya de Cadenas Estate.
This wine comes from one of the most valued vineyards on the Hoya de Cadenas Estate, both for its soil composition and micro-climate, which govern particular ripening rhythms. The Tempranillo comes from the ‘Vallejo Arroyo’ vineyard, situated in the south of the property on terraces surrounded by woodland, ideal for obtaining elegant tannins. The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the ‘Viña Adriana’ vineyard which is in a very sunny position, ideal for drawing out fruity aromas and polyphenols.
The grapes are harvested during the second fortnight of September. After lengthy maceration in contact with the grape skins, the wine is aged for 14 months in new American oak casks with a combination of toastings.
Recommended with small game, red meat, lamb and cured cheeses.
It is of intense cherry colour. Its bouquet presents an aroma with rich nuances and hints of cocoa, roasted coffee and red fruits. On the palate it is meaty with an excellent blend of sweet tannins from the fruit and dry tannins from the wood.
